Roots under Grandmaster Yip Man
Leung Ting started his career teaching classmates as an amateur instructor since 1967, he gained fame in Hong Kong marital art circles as a skilled martial artist and as the closed-door disciple of GGM Yip Man
Leung founded the Baptist College Wing Tsun class in Nov 1968, the first Chinese martial art class in a HK tertiary level institute - a pioneering achievement at the time as kungfu was seen as a low class activity
Leung Ting organized a Chinese Kungfu show for GGM Yip Man as VIP guest in Dec 1969, Baptist College. This would be the only time GGM Yip Man attended a kung fu show organized by his own students

The gymnasium years
The Leung Ting Wing Tsun Gymnasium opened in May 1970 in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong. We are one of the oldest, longest running Wing Tsun Kungfu gymnasiums in Hong Kong - still in operation after 56 years

From humble origins, Wing Tsun Kung fu has become one of the most practiced Chinese Martial-Arts overseas, due to the global teaching efforts of GGM Yip Man’s disciples since the 1970s
Going international
Leung Ting founded his Martial Art Association* in 1973, he regularly toured Europe and the USA 2-3 times a year since 1976 - pioneering the teaching of Wing Tsun overseas
*Called the Leung Ting Wing Tsun Martial-Art Association, then to the International Wing Tsun Leung Ting Wing Tsun Martial-Art Association, and finally to the modern day name of the International WingTsun Association
The IWTA today
By the 1990s, the IWTA had an estimated 3000 instructor branches spread over 60+ countries
The IWTA is estimated to have directly & indirectly taught 200K ~ 300K people across 65+ countries over the past 60 years
